Pherlure Pheromones

There are many products out there designed to make you more attractive. And then there are products that claim to make you more attractive to the opposite sex because of their scent. I am not talking about perfume or colognes, but rather pheromones, something our bodies produce and that are now bottled for us to wear to drive the opposite sex crazy without really knowing why.

Sounds nuts?? Sure but I thought it would be a cool gift for my husband for Christmas (He wanted golf balls again so imagine his surprise. Heh). My choice of sites to get pheromones was Pherlure Pheromones – Scent of Seduction.

What Are Pheromones?

In short, pheromones are natural chemicals that the body makes to communicate with others nearby. As animals, we have a brain-regulated sense of smell even though we don’t have the same type of acute sense of scent as an animal in the wild. Supposedly our subconscious mind takes in the scents around us and tells our brains how to react. In the case of pheromones, our brains are supposed to react with sexual attraction.

By wearing pheromones like a cologne or perfume (This site has pheromones primarily for men but there are many that have them for women mixed with colognes and I will eventually review my own experience with pheromones here), members of the opposite sex will be inexplicably turned on by you.

Well, that’s the claim anyway and there is a ton of evidence on the website to back it up.

Navigation

The home page is fairly tasteful with a lot of info about pheromones and the effect they will have on a man’s attractiveness.

There is a long FAQ section at the bottom of the page explaining everything you could want to know about pheromones and a sexy woman looking like she is in ecstasy at the top of the page to show men how every woman he passes will react. Now that I think about it, it was pretty silly of me to buy my husband this since, if I reacted with ecstasy around him, so would every other woman he came near. Oh my. Luckily, that didn’t happen. Luckily for me, not him. Heh.

Oh the left side of the home page are buttons to information, testimonials, media reports, guarantees, and eventually to order the stuff.

It’s not confusing, just a lot to digest and feels sort of like there is just too much information in one place and they are REALLY hard selling the product.

The Official Word

This is how the site recommends that men use the pheromones:

Apply Pherlure as you would any other cologne/perfume, Pherlure is usually worn behind the ears, on the neck or on the wrist. For best results, apply the preparation directly to your skin instead of your clothing. Just a spray on the inside of a shirt cuff should be enough to get results. Depending on the biochemical make-up of your skin, this could be affecting your success and application to clothing could make a big difference. The biggest mistake made by beginners is putting on too much. Because of the concentration of Pherlure, only one spray is necessary. If you mostly want to affect women 30 or over, start with 1 spray, and then work your way up on different days… 2 one day.. 1 the next day… Don’t start high and move your way back. To affect women under 30, stick with just 1 spray. Using more WILL NOT increase the effectiveness This also gives you more “bang for the buck”.

Ordering

When you click the “Order” button, it takes you to an ugly page with several options to buy. Above that are testimonials again and more hard sell.

The pheromones come in one-ounce bottles with spray tops. You get a discount for buying more than one bottle at a time. One bottle is supposed to last two months. And, if you get a six month supply, you get a free subscription to Stuff Magazine although, if this works like it says, why would any man need to look at women in magazines when he will be fending them off with a stick?

It is on this page that you will see that they also sell pheromones for women. This site is CLEARLY designed for men but they add the pheromones for women because, I guess, why not? If you get a six-month supply of women’s pheromones, you get a free subscription to Elle Magazine. So both men and women can look at women in magazines.That seems very unfair if you ask me!

Anyway, I chose just a one-month supply and clicked to check out. You must first choose PayPal or the major credit card option. Choosing PayPal takes you right to a PayPal log in page while the credit card option takes you to a typical form where you fill in the usual info.

Shipping Charges

Nowhere at all on this site is the cost of shipping. I searched everywhere. I finally had to put the item in my cart and go to checkout to see what the shipping charge was. For my one-ounce bottle, it was $8.95. I tested the checkout with three bottles and it was still $8.95 so I assume that the shipping in the US is a flat $8.95.

Guarantee

The site guarantees the product for 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with it, you can return it for a full refund minus shipping charges (to you and back to them). You must email a request to return the product before you can send it back, which leads me to believe there will be a bit of back and forthing before you are issued a RMA. However, I can’t say for sure because I never bothered to send back the stuff I bought my husband.

The Other Stuff

Shipping took a little over two weeks. It arrived in a discrete package with instructions.

When my husband opened his gift, he was underwhelmed. I then explained what would happen if he wore it and he perked up (and he had also realized he got his golf balls too so that may have explained his better mood). We tried it right away. It has a sort of.body odor odor. It isn’t supposed to have a scent but we distinctly smelled BO. Not awful nor strong but not exactly a sexy scent. My husband sprayed it on his neck but refused to do much more with it.

Then we waited.

I think we’re still waiting.

My prince of 20 years was still the same frog he was before he wore the pheromones. Not that I mind my frog, mind you, but I had spent $60.00 for what seemed like water and sweat!

He wore the stuff out a few times and said he noticed no difference at all with women. He is a good looking and friendly guy so women naturally talk to him and smile at him but none of them seemed unable to control their impulses or acted differently while he was wearing the stuff.

He declared it a bunch of BS and went back to wearing his Adidas Sport cologne and never looked back. I gave the rest to my 19-year-old son figuring he would definitely want to give it a shot but he nearly gagged at the odor and told me I was insane.

Conclusion

How do I rate this site? The actual website is OK. It’s busy and a hard sell type of site but it is easy to navigate and ordering is simple. There are no inherent problems with the actual mechanics of the site. But the problem is that the one product they sell doesn’t seem to work and certainly doesn’t live up to their ridiculous claims. The testimonials are well worth a read just to get a laugh. While I know that pheromones are real and that our bodies do produce them and they are connected with sexual attraction, this stuff simply didn’t give the advertised and desired results.

It didn’t do.anything.

So, as far as the actual website is concerned, it is fine. The product is hype. I have to give it a below average rating and I can’t recommend that you waste your money there.

If you do want to try pheromones, there are loads of places to get it mixed with colognes that smell great. Pheromones alone smell sort of nasty and if you must try these for yourself, I suggest you go for something with a nice scent. You may not need that subscription to Stuff if you smell nice and feel confident. This particular type of pheromone just doesn’t elicit a sense of sexiness from the wearer or the people around him.

I believe in this case, we’re talking about a placebo effect. If you believe it and feel confident, women will be more open to you than if you don’t have any confidence and seem unfriendly. Save your money, slap on a smile, keep your head up, and use the cash to buy your wife (or the girl you meet in the grocery store) dinner.
