A Fairly Inexpensive Site for Collectibles and Gifts

I recently received the cutest Jack Russell Terrier figurine from a friend. I own a Jack and this figurine was so spot on that I had to see what else The Danbury Mint Online Store offered. I found lots of really cute things and ordered a few for gifts and, admittedly, something for myself.

I like this site quite a bit. It isn’t super expensive in general but the quality quite high and there are so many items that make wonderful gifts.

What the Site Sells

The site sells load of categories of collectible and replica items. Their main categories are Collectibles, Jewelry, Sports, and Die Cast Replicas. Within those categories are many, many subcategories covering just about anything a person could want.

Navigation and Ordering

Navigation is broken into the four main categories by tabs. This eases confusion since they have such a large inventory. Once you go to one of the main categories, there are links down the side to all the subcategories and then photos of everything in those subcategories. Photos and descriptions are good. There is nothing left to the imagination as they give all materials, sizes, and other facts about a product to help you decide whether you want to buy it. The prices are clearly marked.

When you see something you want, click to add to your cart. The items I bought all gave me an option to pay in payments or in full at one time. I loved the option to pay in payments. Shipping is marked clearly as well and, when you go to the checkout area, you will see that it is folded into the payments or, if you opt to pay in one payment, you will pay the price and shipping at that time. Shipping charges are very reasonable especially for the heavy figurines that I bought.

You can choose regular shipping which can take up to two to four weeks or upgrade to one of two faster shipping methods for a fee.

You don’t have to register with the site but you will be given the option. Fill out your shipping and billing address and email and move on to the final page where you input your MasterCard, Visa, AmEx, or Discover Card. You will see the total for your first installment if you have chosen to pay in installments or your complete total if you are paying in one payment. Once you input your payment info, you will get an email and then another when your item(s) are ready to ship. You are charged when they ship out.

Orders take a while but I only waited about 12 days for mine (although it says 2-4 weeks). They are packed well and look classy enough to just wrap the box and give as a gift. Nothing I ordered was damaged in transit.

My Experience

The hardest part about shopping on the site was picking what I wanted. I was looking for certain items for gifts and I found what I wanted but then saw other things that I liked more and then I couldn’t make up my mind. I really enjoyed browsing the many items offered. Some were too expensive for me and some, I thought, were very reasonable. There are so many different types of things that one could get confused but keeping things in the four main categories really helped me to navigate.

Descriptions were full and photos were large enough for me to see details although they are not zoomable. The site is actually pretty simple when it comes to bells and whistles like zooming photos and 3D effects and such. It’s a straightforward site that gives all the info you need without the bling.

I had no trouble adding things to my cart and checking out. I didn’t register with the site this time. I just went straight to the checkout and was done in minutes. I received my confirmation letter almost immediately upon paying. It was another week or so before I received a shipping letter. My items arrived in about five days. Nothing was damaged and everything was packed well with the certificates from The Danbury Mint enclosed. I loved everything and am eager to give the gifts to the people I bought them for.

I will be back to shop on The Danbury Mint Online Store again. Prices are decent but can run higher for the expensive stuff, of course. For what I chose, I think I got good deals. The figurines are just adorable, especially the animal ones.

Aside from the somewhat long wait for items (2-4 weeks is a bit much), this site is a good one for gifts and items for yourself. The ability to pay in several payments really helps if you choose something pricey.

Shipping and Returns

Shipping charges are clearly marked on everything they sell. If you choose to make payments, shipping is broken up into however many payments you make, otherwise, you will be charged the full amount at checkout. You can choose four day or two day shipping for $9.95 and $17.95 extra if you need an item fast. Otherwise, shipping is very reasonable but the wait could be long so shop ahead if you are buying gifts.

According to the site: "Your satisfaction is completely guaranteed. If you are not delighted with your purchase you may return it for any reason within 90 days for a replacement or a full refund."

Wrap Up

I am not a big one for collectibles and such but, after I received the adorable Jack dog and he looked so realistic, I had to see for myself what this site was offering. They have tons of things for everyone and every age and interest. They aren’t top of the line collectibles from what I can see but their items are very well made and prices seem to be fair. I like knowing shipping charges up front and I like being able to choose to pay in several payments.

I am very happy with my experience at The Danbury Mint Online Store and will return. The long wait for items is their only drawback. I can’t imagine why one would have to wait four weeks for an item unless it wasn’t released or in stock yet. I would go with 5 stars but that long shipping wait makes me take a half of a star off and I have to round it to 4 stars. Still, this is a reliable site that I do recommend.
