Did you ever want to buy something but blushed just thinking of ordering it over the net or, worse, buying it in person? It could be something sexual, something physical, or something for an ailment you just don’t want anyone to know you have…

Well, you can always Shop in Private.

This site isn’t what you all may think it is. It isn’t some porn site where you can find kinky, crazy stuff that you would be mortified if anyone found out you owned. Indeed, it does carry adult products but also many, many other products that certainly don’t embarrass me to buy but may embarrass others.

What the Site Sells

Hard to find products, embarrassing products like enemas, hygiene, incontinence products, hemorrhoid relief, and the like, and yes, sexual items.

Navigation and Ordering

This site is super simple and looks a bit amateurish but not cheesy or sleazy at all.

They have a list of categories on the left side of the page. Among them are: Embarrassing, Hard to Find, Men’s Health, Feminine Needs, Birth Control, and several others all the way down to Sexual Items and Sex Toys. Ironically, right under the Sex Toys link is one called Charity. Ha!

You can search by keyword or click the category links and browse around.

I suppose extra small condoms and yeast infection cream could be embarrassing to some but ehh. Not much embarrasses me so nothing on the site was a shocker. (The anus bleach was a bit, um, perplexing, but not really shocking…)

At any rate, browse around, read their catchy, oft times rhyming descriptions of their categories, and click to add items to your cart.

Photos are fine and descriptions are ample. There are always many related products offered under the listing you are looking at if you want suggestions.

Many of the items are old school things like Preparation H, Fixodent Denture Adhesive, and EPT Pregnancy Tests. A small part of the site is dedicated to tame sexual "toys" and accessories but the site really is for people who don’t want to stand in line at a pharmacy buying what they consider embarrassing stuff.

They promise not to sell or give your email to anyone and not to spam you with emails after the sale. They also encrypt their order page — but most online stores do, I think.

Add items you want to your cart and move to the checkout when you are finished shopping.

At checkout, you will choose from several shipping methods and speeds. You can toy around and see which shipping method you want to go with once you input your zip code and city.

If your order is over $75.00, you will get free shipping in the US unless you wanted expedited shipping.

You then fill in your personal details and choose a payment. You can pay by major credit card or Paypal.

You will get a confirmation and a shipping email.

Items arrive in discreet packaging with no "telltale" funky return address.

I should mention that, if you pledge one cent to help prevent suicide, the site will donate $1.00 to the cause. You can pledge more but they will stick with their dollar donation. The money goes to Common Ground Sanctuary, which is listed with the BBB and is a legit non-profit crisis intervention agency. I think that is a great cause and, of course, I donated to it. They have proof that the money people donate goes to the agency and I totally trust that it does. They have letters of thanks posted from the agency as proof.

My Experience

Hey! I was supposed to shop in private! lol. Actually, I was told about this site by a friend when I was looking for some hard to find personal items for my elderly father early last year. None of them were embarrassing for me to buy, I just couldn’t find the brands he insisted on. This site had those brands.

I had no problems navigating at all. The site is incredibly simply designed.

I found three of the four things I was looking for at decent prices and bought them. My order was about $57.00 and Ground Shipping was about $6.80 and USPS priority mail was about $8.20. I chose the cheapest shipping method as I was in no hurry for the items to arrive.

I paid via Paypal which I suppose isn’t that discreet but I wasn’t trying to be.

I received my Paypal confirmation and an order confirmation from the site. It didn’t list what I had purchased, just item numbers.

I then received a notice of shipping about two days later and my order arrived in a little under a week. It was in a plain cardboard box with a business return address on it called "PriveCo".

Everything was fine. My father was happy to see the stuff he knew so well and had used forever and I was satisfied with my purchase.

Shipping and Returns

Shipping rates vary according to the method of shipping you choose and the total amount of your order. From what I saw, it’s reasonable. Orders over $75.00 ship free in the US. You can opt for expedited shipping for a fee.

They have a long, full explanation of their shipping fees and methods as well as international shipping fees. They also have a timetable of when to expect your order to arrive depending on the shipping method you choose.

You can get a refund or exchange on products for up to 30 days after purchase.

If you aren’t happy with the performance of an item, you can contact the site and they will work with you to get the item back and return your money, even if it is opened and used or nearly gone. This is a very fair site and one I laughed at when I heard of, but now respect for what they do.

Conclusion

Some things are embarrassing to buy for many people. This site hopes to help people get what they want and need without the embarrassment of walking into a store or wondering if a site sold your intimate details.

They have a wide selection of all sorts of items from the very benign (Like denture cream) to the weird (anal bleach, thin charcoal filled pads that you wear on your underwear to stop the scent of gas emissions…) to the sexual (vibrators, lubricants, condoms, etc.).

Prices are good, shipping is fair, and their returns policy is excellent.

Although this is somewhat of a weird concept for a site, I really do believe it helps people who would otherwise not purchase embarrassing items. You are guaranteed that your information is never released to anyone and that the site itself will never contact you.

I have not ever gotten a promotional email or anything else in relation to my purchase there and never have gotten strange offers related to what I bought.

My father passed on in June 2006 but I would have continued to use this site for his favorite items had he stayed with us longer. I may use the site again sometime down the road. I certainly would not hesitate to shop there again for any reason.

I thought the site was a joke but now I am impressed with it on many levels. It’s off the beaten path but it’s reliable and honest and serves a purpose. 5 stars for allowing people to shop discreetly and for supporting such a worthy cause as preventing suicide.
