My first experience with Notable and Notorious was at the physical store in Florida. My sons are big into medieval stuff and display swords and, since a friend of mine managed the store, we stopped in to see what we could see.

The store is huge with all kinds of items from collectables to action figures.

The website, which has an offshoot eBay store, is a good place to sample what Notable and Notorious offers.

What the Site Sells

Replica weapons, Lord of the Rings merchandise, Kit Rae fantasy weapons, Master Replicas, Gil Hibben fantasy daggers, Sideshow Collectibles (These are simply amazing!), wrestling stuff, matted photos, movie props, posters, McFarlane toys, autographed pieces, and many other sci fi and fantasy products as well as movie and wrestling memorabilia that you can’t get just anywhere. You need to dig around a little find some things but it is usually worth it as they are limited edition or signed items that are hard to get your hands on.

Navigation

The site is very simple as far as design. Across the top are category links that take you to every area of the site. At the bottom of the site is a search box which will bring up all results from the keywords you input. The home page addresses the local consumer, posting a map of their new location and hours of operation.

Click on a category link and you will see thumbnails and names of items within that category. Click on a thumbnail and a large photo appears with a very detailed description of the item as well as full measurements and the price.

To purchase an item, add it to your cart.

When you are done browsing, you go to the check out. You can do this at any time to see what your shipping charges will be as well. You need only input your zip code and the type of shipping you want. There are many different types offered, depending on how fast you need your order.

Once you get to the check out, you will see your total. Only those in Florida are charged sales tax, which I like!

Once you are sure all is correct with your order, you will choose to pay by credit card, paypal, or check or money order by mail.

For either online payment, you must fill in your shipping address and phone number. The site accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If you pay by credit card, you will fill in your card details. If you choose paypal, you will fill out your shipping address then will be taken to paypal to complete your transaction.

Checking out is painless and simple. You will revive an immediate email confirming your purchase. You will receive a shipping notification with a tracking number when the order ships out.

Orders arrive within the timeframe of the shipping method you choose, very carefully packaged and protected from damage.

I used Netscape to browse the site the first time and the category links went clear across the page and every item I clicked on opened a new window. However, with other browsers, I had no problems at all with multiple windows or design so I suggest using another browser other than Netscape when shopping on this site.

Site Extras

There is a News & Updates link which tells you what new products have arrived and what are coming soon. There is also a link to their eBay store where you can bid on or buy items that may not be part of their regular stock. They often sell one of a kind autographed items and the like via eBay. They also have info about upcoming events at their store and photos of those events as they happen.

My Experience

The site is fairly new and in the process of changing things a bit to make navigation even easier. I found the site easy to navigate and the only thing I noticed is there is no "Home" link once you begin shopping. The home page has nothing pertinent to online shopping on it so this is no big deal but I am used to having access to the home page when I am shopping.

I was looking for a certain display sword that my older son HAD TO HAVE in his collection. There are so many cool things that I got sidetracked but I did find the sword he wanted. The price was better at Not and Not than anywhere else on the net so I went with them. Shipping was only a bit under $12.00 for a heavy sword and sheath.

I lingered longingly in the wrestling area because they have some unique items I haven’t seem elsewhere but I moved on and simply bought the sword.

I used a credit card and got my confirmation email immediately. A couple of days later, I got my shipping email with a tracking number. The sword arrived in great shape, very carefully packed. The quality is outstanding and my son loves it. He loves the whole site, in fact. Sci Fi and medieval enthusiast will really enjoy what this site has to offer. My younger son is now asking for some medieval piece of something or other and I will probably get it for his birthday next month. The price is fair and I know it will arrive safely.

I had a fine experience on this site. The photos, descriptions, and uniqueness of items are excellent. I also really appreciate the careful packing of items.

Stock changes all the time and you never know what may be on the site the next time you check in. Many things, like the replica weapons, are permanently in stock, but other things pertaining to wrestling, movies, and autographed items change and are added. The site encourages customers to call and request a certain item if they don’t see it on the site. They try to accommodate everyone if they can.

Shipping and Returns

There are several shipping methods both for US residents and worldwide. Shipping prices are very reasonable for the weight and complexity of the products sold. There is no shipping chart on the site but simply inputting your zip code and shipping method will tell you immediately how much it will cost to ship the item you are considering.

Tax is only charged when items are being shipped within Florida. You can bypass all shipping charges if you pick up your order at the store.

Returns for defective merchandise are accepted within 10 days of receipt. Other merchandise can be returned in salable condition but is subject to a 20% restocking fee. If you are ever unsure about a product, call the store or email the site and clarify everything before buying to avoid that restocking fee.

Conclusion

This isn’t the most technically advanced site I have been to but it offers unique items and a large variety of different things for good prices. Quality is very good and guaranteed. My entire shopping experience from choosing what I wanted, to correctness of description and detail, to price, to shipping costs, to delivery was just fine. I will return to Notable and Notorious again and will shop at their store the next time I am in Orlando.

4 stars for this little website that has the most unique and interesting stuff for prices that are very fair. The bigger guys may have prettier websites but you pay for that in higher prices and inflated shipping costs.
