Smashbox Cosmetics
I am just getting into Smashbox cosmetics and recently saw an amazing new product from them called O-Glow. I had to have it.
I decided not to mess around but to go straight to the source and order from SmashBox Cosmetics Online Store, the official site of Smashbox cosmetics and skin care.
Smashbox products are expensive but I will return to the site for their products — and have! They’re really good and the site is great.
Navigation and Ordering
The site is yummy looking. If you like high-end cosmetics, you will be sucked into the site from the first click.
The newest product is spotlighted (which happened to be the one I was buying) and there are links across the top for each category of product sold. There are also informative links like Tips & Tricks, What’s Hot, Get the Look, and so on.
Getting down to shopping, just do a keyword search or browse the categories for items that appeal to you.
Products are expensive — be warned. Smashbox is not a drugstore or even really a department store line. But, ask any Smashbox cosmetic user and you will be told that their products are well worth the cost. From what I have seen, they are. I have another larger order coming and will get to try several of their products.
Add items to your cart and, when you are finished shopping, you will go to the checkout. On the days I shopped — and now still — orders of any size shipped free. THAT was a great incentive!
Checking out is as simple as providing your usual personal details. You will pick a password for keeping track of your orders, account, and wish list.
Provide a major credit card number and expiry and your order is complete.
When I ordered, I was informed that I was eligible for one of two deluxe samples. I chose a deluxe mini of their famous makeup primer. I have since ordered the full sized product so that promotion worked!
A confirmation letter will come and then a shipping one. The order should arrive quickly via UPS Ground.
My Experience
I had no trouble at all navigating the site. But then, I could navigate any beauty site in my sleep after so many online orders. I liked the descriptions and the photos. Everything is very professional and clean — and very enticing.
I ordered the product I wanted and fought off the urge to order a whole lot more. (I since have done so since, so much for fighting off THAT urge!)
After searching around and learning about all the latest Smashbox products, I began the checkout process. I was taken to a screen to choose one of two deluxe samples and did so. Then I input my credit card details and was not charged shipping but was charged tax. I hate living in New York State!
I received a confirmation letter and a shipping one. My order was on my doorstep five days after I received the shipping notice.
The box was a little black one with a bunch of Styrofoam peanuts surrounding my product, sample, and another carded sample of their foundation. My invoice was also included.
All’s well! Love the products, loved the service.
Shipping and Returns
Right now, shipping is free on all orders. As far as I can tell, shipping is free in the US all the time. You can choose expedited shipping for a fee and they also have international shipping rates posted for these outside the US. Hooray for free shipping with no order minimum!
Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase and you can opt for a refund or an exchange. Your invoice will have a label and return instructions on it.
Sales tax is only charged in California and New York.
Conclusion
Free shipping with no minimum purchase, deluxe samples and regular sized surprise samples, and a good returns policy. Need I say more?
Smashbox products are not cheap but they are no more expensive on their site than anywhere else. They have some good offers and closeout specials. I like the whole site. It’s where I will go for all my Smashbox products. There are also coupon codes and offers you can use if you look around at the coupon sites online.
