This Site is Far Better Than “Decent”. It Should Be Called SkinFantastic!
Because I am so completely hooked on bath and body products and love new scents, I tend to hop around from site to site looking for new “stuff” to try. I recently discovered SkinDecent and, at first glance, thought I might be a bit disappointed in their products and service. The site is quite rudimentary and simple and the photos are only average.
But I went ahead and made an order and I am glad I did. This site definitely has higher quality — and much more unique — products than it seems when you first click on the home page.
What the Site Sells
The site offers bath treats, fragrances, moisturizers, hair care, hand and foot products, scrubs, home fragrance items, and several other bath and body products. These items are all made with vegetable-based ingredients with no chemicals except for preservatives which are required by law. They have 95 scents to choose from and most items you choose can be purchased in any one of those amazing scents. All orders are custom made so you can even tell the site how strongly you want your products scented!

The site is quite simple. The home page tells you of current specials and freebies and doesn’t capture the eye. I would have bypassed the site when I saw the simple home page but I had heard they offered unique products so I delved further.
The inventory is not huge and you can easily browse all their offerings in one sitting. There are category links on the left side. Click a category and then check out the offerings. The descriptions are adequate and the photos are simple. All prices are defaulted in Canadian dollars because this is a Canadian site. You can easily switch to US dollars by choosing that option on the home page or any page you are on.
Once you find a product you want to try, the hard part comes in. Picking a scent! There are so many scents from botanical to foody to drinks, fruits, designer scents, and more that you could spend far more time picking a scent than a product. I sure did.
Click to add items to your cart and, when you are done shopping, you will go to the checkout.
If you are not a member of the site, you will be prompted to enter your name, address, and phone number plus pick a password. That takes only a moment to do. Moving on, you will get a chance to review your order and see what your shipping charges are. I paid $7.64 for an order of $29.00. That was a bit high but considering the products are coming from Canada, all custom made and fresh, and very reasonably priced, I really had no problem paying that amount for shipping.
You can pay by Visa or MasterCard in the US.
Once you pay, your order is verified and you receive an email with your order details. Orders are sent out within four days and, if they do not send your order out with two weeks, you will receive a free four ounce product of your choice.
My Experience
I had a great time on the site! While it isn’t the most technically advanced site I have been to, I enjoyed checking out all the unique products and deciding which of the zillion scents I wanted to try. When I did my shopping, they were offering a free lip balm stick with a $20.00 order and two free with a $40.00 order. They also were offering three free mini massage bar samples in any scent I wanted so I was agonizing over scents for a long time. But it was a fun agony. Scents, for me, can completely change my mood and I adore trying new ones.
I chose several products to try, eventually settled on some scents, and moved to the checkout. I quickly input my personal info and then my MasterCard details. I remembered to add what free massage bar scents I wanted and what flavor lip balm I was getting free in their comments section as asked. My order was processed in moments.
The heat was sort of a worry because everything is liable to melt. I did watch for the delivery so the order wouldn’t sit in the heat and did catch it and there was no melting. However, if something does arrive melted, just refrigerate it for an hour and voila! It’s back to normal again!
Shipping took about 11 days which I felt was fine considering Canadian shipping is slow and they had to custom make my items.
Packaging was simple but secure and I could smell the scents before I even opened the package. I absolutely loved everything — especially the foot scrub and Manicure in a Minute, which everyone should try. The scents are otherworldly and the free massage bars proved that I will have to go back for more items in the scents I chose. The items were in a cute gift bag with a gift tag with my name on it and truly seemed special. The amazing thing is the prices are fantastic. I can’t believe the quality I received for such low prices.
I am so hooked. I want to try everything and every scent! I definitely will go back and stock up on other products now that I know the quality and service of this site.
Shipping and Returns
Shipping is free in the US for orders over $68.00. If you want to be positive to get your order within a week, you can pay a flat $11.90. Otherwise shipping is based on the cost of the order and is around seven or eight dollars.
For sanitary reasons, returns are only accepted for unused and unopened products. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to return an item, frankly, but if you are unsure of scents, they often have small or trail sizes and include free samples of scents of your choice so you can make a scent decision based on that. The scents are very true to their descriptions and nothing I tried disappointed me in the least.
Customer Service
Often, I shop on sites that are fine unless there is a problem or a question and then I run into customer service hell. Not so on this site. The owner is friendly, accommodating, and very quick to respond to any and all emails. She keeps me informed as to the status of my order and answers all questions I have very quickly. In fact, we are working on creating a facial scrub similar to Philosophy’s The Greatest Love. Her Manicure in a Minute hand scrub is so fabulous, I wondered if she could whip me up a facial scrub similar to that and she is working with me to get the formula just so. That is what I call fantastic customer service.
I am updating this review on July 18, 2006 after having made a large order and discussing the facial scrub idea. I can’t stress enough how important customer service is, especially when buying bath and body products like those sold on this site. You will feel like you are corresponding with an old friend when you write and, wonderful quality aside, this is one of the most important and best aspects of the site.

Conclusion
Go forth and enjoy! This site is such a gem. The items are all natural, made to order, and very reasonably priced. There are SO many scents that everyone can find one (or many) that suits them. They have men’s scents as well, so guys, don’t be afraid to pamper yourselves!
I love this site and find it to be professional, reasonably priced, and they treat their customers like gold. I feel pampered and special when I shop at www.skindecent.com and I encourage everyone who is looking for a little something different in just about any scent to take a look at the site. It isn’t flashy or super technical but, when you get your order, you will feel like you paid many times more than the actual cost of the products. They don’t just smell great, they are super high quality.
Rating anything less than 5 stars would be a disservice to this great site.
