This Site Will Feed Your Beauty Habit. No Returns Makes Me Leery Though.
Beautyhabit
Got a beauty habit? I sure do. I love beauty products. I discovered Beautyhabit while doing a search for one of my many beauty habit items. I liked the vast variety on the site so I gave it a shot.
It has an amazing array of products from high-end beauty companies, any of which I hadn’t heard of before.
What the Site Sells
Well known and mostly high end little known (to me) beauty, bath, hair, and fragrance products for men and women. This is NOT for those looking for drugstore products. It’s a pricey site.
Navigation and Ordering
The front page is busy with links and pics of things. It can be confusing for a first time visitor but, as an online shopping addict, I had no trouble searching around.
You can browse by category, customer favorites, brand name, or perform a search. There is so much to see and read and do that you may end up spending a long time discovering brands and products you never even knew existed.
A few things that annoyed me about the site were that, when you see a thumbnail and want more info, you can’t click on the picture to expand it. You have to click on the VIEW MORE INFO link next to it. It made me crazy because most photos are clickable.
Also, many descriptions and all ingredients are nonexistent.
That aside, shopping is easy. Click to add items to your cart. Each time you add a product, you will see your cart. You need to choose whether you live in California (Only CA residents are charged tax) and you can immediately see what your shipping and handling costs will be as you add more to your cart. No guesswork there and I like that.
While the site sells some very upscale products, it feels like a little amateur website. It is so subdued and everything is tougher than it should be. Like, once you look at your cart, instead of clicking to continue shopping, you have to back out using the browser’s back arrows.
At any rate, once you have your order in place, you will have a few choices of shipping speeds. They do ship internationally as well as within the US.
Enter a major credit card or choose Paypal and move on to the checkout page. You don’t need to register. Just fill out your billing and shipping address(es) and input your credit card info. If you choose paypal, I assume you will be forwarded to the site to pay that way.
And that is it. You get a confirmation email and a shipping one. Orders take a while, for me anyway. I would say it was around 12 days from the day I ordered before I received my order. It was packed well and all was fine.
My Experience
I really didn’t need to shop on this site; I just wanted to see what fun things I could unearth. I found loads of those but only bought a couple of them. This site does carry some very offbeat brand and ones I never heard of.
I picked out my items and easily checked out. There was no up sell or any hitches in my ordering process.
I received my emails and my order as promised. Packing was decent and my order was fine. But I probably won’t shop on the site often. I rarely use the product names they sell and the ones I DO use that they sell are available on other websites with less or no shipping costs. I do like that I wasn’t charged tax though!
I didn’t have to contact customer service but they do have a toll free number if I needed to. Also shipping is freeing the US for orders over $100.00 which is a good deal if I had ordered that much. I didn’t so I paid shipping which was reasonable at $5.95.
It took a while for my order to arrive but I could track it and knew it was on its way. The packing was fine. I received two foil samples with my order.
It was a good experience overall. I just wasn’t overwhelmed with the site because it was a little annoying to navigate and had many items I never heard of and don’t use. However, for someone who is looking for certain hard to find brands, this place is one to look for them. They have dozens of name brands to choose from.
Shipping and Returns
Shipping is based on your order total and is free in the US above $100.00. It is reasonable at around $5.95 under that amount. There are expedited shipping options for higher fees.
Returns are accepted for unopened items only within 14 days. No returns are accepted on opened items. Shipping in nonrefundable.
Conclusion
Beautyhabit has a huge variety of really offbeat names and high end products for beauty lovers but I prefer to shop at Sephora for most of my varied beauty needs or directly at the manufacturer’s websites.
This site has free shipping over $100.00 and does include a few samples which is always a nice thing. I don’t know if they have promotions and free gifts with purchases like Sephora or other beauty sites because I just discovered them but, if I happen to see a good deal or sale, I will shop there again.
I had no issues with my order and I can recommend it to you without hesitation. However, I do NOT like the return policy. With expensive makeup and beauty products, if you get the wrong shade and or formula and can’t return it, you could be out hundreds of dollars. That is why I go to Sephora. They understand this and accept returns.
I give this site 4 stars although I wasn’t bowled over by the look or the return policy. It does have a load of good brand names, decent or no shipping, no tax except in California, and there are promotions on the site that you may want to take advantage of.
It’s there if I need it and probably will shop there again but it isn’t on my favorites list of sites that I return to time and again.
