The Perfect Bra and Other Stuff Too For Cheap

One Hanes Place

If you’ve never checked out One Hanes Place, online, then you’re missing out. They carry the department store brands (Hanes, Bali, Playtex, Just-My-Size) in underwear, pajamas/nighties, socks and hosiery without the department store prices. The biggest selection includes intimates for women, but they also have things for kids and for men. I buy most of my undergarments here, and I buy underwear and socks for my boys.

Not So Irregular — Don’t Let That Stop You

Though you may see a note on some items that you’re buying “seconds” or “slightly irregular,” I’ve never had an item that didn’t look perfect. They have a seconds online site too that carries the items that may be more likely to have a minor flaw.

The sizing is fine too, and some places send out miss-sized items as seconds.

Frankly, I would call the Hanes products top-of-the-line with no difference from Belks where I’d pay much more. On average, the prices run about 50 to 75% lower depending on what you buy and on whether you watch for and take advantage of the specials. Those are listed up at some of the deal sites online and in emails that they send out. They don’t flood you with emails, but they do send good deals.

Flower Power — Tops the List Year After Year

>

The Flower Bali is the best-selling bra at Hanes (and probably at department stores too), and it runs around $16 at Hanes online while it is closer to $27 at stores. They offer different colors from time to time, and I enjoy a new shade. White, beige and black are fine, but a girl likes a pink or lavender from time to time.

Socks — Oh Yes

>

OK. Enough about bras. If you need hose (ugh — I hate them) or socks, then Hanes will fix you up. Look for the “softest socks in the world.” They are. I got a pair last month, and I’ll buy more when the weather gets cooler. I didn’t even notice that some of my socks seem kind of low rent until I got these really cushy socks. Very nice.

Guys Can Shop Here Too

>

For the boys, the standard Hanes drawers are great. They run about the same price that you pay at Wal-Mart on sale. They need to add more in boxers and some patterns and colors. Same with the socks for boys. Good products. Could use more variety. But, if you need the basics — whitie tighties, t-shirts, sweats, or socks with the gray bottoms to hide the dirt, then you’re in business here.

Clothing — Some Standards and New Editions Every Year

>

On the clothing, I’d say that you’d want to consider them at-home casual even if they dress them up a bit online (and in the catalog). The cotton shorts are my top picks. They are simple shorts that work well with t-shirts. They legs are not big and flappy like some shorts. If you have bigger thighs, then you may not like them. If you have smaller legs, then these are great. The sweats are good. They’re not the real thick cotton, but they wash well and last.

Worth a Good Look

>

Every “body” is different and every family will have different needs. Look around and give Hanes a try. If you don’t like the products, they take them back. No questions asked. They only thing I’ve ever sent back was a pair of pants that fell apart on the first wash. The seams were not good on those. They sent a new pair out immediately, but those also fell apart. After that, they sent my money back. That pair of pants was pulled from the catalog the next issue, so that was a rare case where they got a bad product up and out to the public.

If you need help, then call. When I first started buying at Hanes, I did need some help with sizing. They listened and made suggestions and were on target. They didn’t even try to sell me a one-size-fits-all like at the department store.

The store is based in North Carolina, and I can tell you that NC folks are friendly and very helpful. The first bra I bought was the Flower Bali. I still get that one but also some others. I enjoy the new offerings and try out ones that come in my size (DD).

I can drive an hour-and-a-half and get to the outlet store. I enjoy going, but I don’t get there that often. Though I pay tax (NC brick and mortar sore — so tax for NC folks online) and shipping, it’s still much cheaper to go directly to Hanes.com for my bras and other items that I buy at this site.

If you’ve never tried them out, then I would say to give them a try. I think you’ll love Hanes too, since I’m a tough shopper and look at prices and quality. If I could get better stuff for the same price or lower around here, then I’d do that. I can’t beat Hanes, so I do buy my unmentionables online.
